The globalization of English has had an enormous impact over last century; at least 400 million speak it as their mother tongue and a billion more speak it as a foreign language. The A-course in English aims to give the student an overview of the structure of English and also introduces the student to the cultures and literature that represent this truly international language.

The course consists of four 7,5 credit modules, two of which focus on the language itself, and two which are designed to give the student an introduction to the literature and cultures of various parts of the English speaking world. Note, that this term the A-course is given as a regular course in Härnösand, a distance course with a limited number of 'physical' meetings in Östersund, and as an Internet course with no 'physical' meetings.
